Cultural highlights in Rhineland-Palatinate

Rhineland-Palatinate, a showplace of European culture located in the far west of Germany, has a lot to offer – the Cultural Heritage Directorate General shows you where!
They include the top-class state museums in Koblenz, Mainz and Trier as well as the state's many castles, palaces and antiquities.
Start your exploration by discovering ancient Roman buildings such as Porta Nigra, the amphitheatre and the Viehmarkt thermal baths in Trier, Middle Rhine castles such as Pfalzgrafenstein or Stolzenfels Castle and Villa Ludwigshöhe Castle as well as grand castles Trifels and Hardenburg in the Palatinate. Not to be forgotten: the Prussian fortress of Ehrenbreitstein in Koblenz, one of Europe's largest fortifications and the showplace of a comprehensive cultural programme.
Rhineland-Palatinate has as many as four UNESCO World Heritage sites: Speyer Cathedral, the Roman Monuments, Trier Cathedral and Liebfrauenkirche, the cultural landscape of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley and Upper Germanic & Rhaetian Limes.
