For 500 years, from 1341 until the French Revolution, the site of today's Ebertor Park Restaurant was occupied by the "Eberbacher Hof", one of the major administrative centers of the Eberbach estate in the 14th century. The end of the court came with the French Revolution. The last celerar of the court, Benedikt Kalt, acquired the estate for the price of 3,675 francs.
In the last quarter of the 19th century, the estate passed into the possession of the eldest son Franz of the Boppard-born furniture manufacturer Michael Thonet, who had an elaborate villa built on the site of the farm. Until March 16, 1945, when the villa went up in flames after being hit by artillery, the magnificent estate was used in various ways as a spa house, "Stadtgarten" and as "Hotel Rheinterrasse".
Finally, in 1949, the property passed from the Thonet inheritance of Gertrude Stoeck, née Andreae, to the Fußhöller family, who began rebuilding the house in 1953.
