Trinity Church

Speyer · Pfalz

After their city was destroyed, many people from Speyer took shelter in Frankfurt and attended services there in St. Catherine's Church. They had it built according to their model by court architect Johann Peter Graber from neighbouring Mannheim.
The original interior, which has been preserved to this day, was constructed with wood as money was scarce and the material was available at a reasonable price. The carvings on the altar and pulpit by Christian Dathan and the vault, depicting scenes from the Old and New Testament painted by Johann Christian Gutbier, are hard to miss.

Another special feature is the organ above the altar. The excellent acoustics make the church a very popular venue for concerts.
