On your hikes through the High Fens, you are sure to notice the multitude of crossroads. And each cross has its own story. Most of them don't end happily. Murdered, drowned, frozen to death, mysteriously killed ... The most famous misfortune cross is "The Fiancé's Cross". A couple who died here in a snow storm. Maybe the moor is a bit scary after all? As a result of its isolation, the High Fens harbored a multitude of dangers.
