The Hohe Haus (High House), a residential tower of late Gothic style built by the order of the archbishop of Trier in 1438, is the oldest secular building in the town. Its special features are a so called "Cologne ceiling” and a spiral staircase cut from an oak trunk, both dating back to 1617. Although quite small, the museum presents a wide range of exhibits in its lovingly decorated rooms taking you back to the good old times when Bad Hönningen was just a little wine village. The Hohe Haus is also the venue of exhibitions, recitals, civil wedding ceremonies and the annual Thanksgiving celebration in September.
