Climbing course for beginners

Our guides will teach you how to climb via ferrata and look after you on the via ferrata.

On our practice via ferrata and the tour on the Oberburg you will gain the necessary knowledge and routine to be able to climb via ferratas independently. At the climax of the course you will climb a via ferrata with sections from A to C.

Dates: every Saturday from spring 2023
Procedure: Meeting at 09.00 and welcome at the GesundLand Tourist Info in Manderscheid, equipment with via ferrata sets. Together we walk in approx. 15min to our practice via ferrata at the Turnierwiese.
Training: Material knowledge, dangers on the via ferrata, roping up on the via ferrata, correct use of the via ferrata set, possible mistakes with incorrect use, walking on the via ferrata, climbing techniques on the rock, via ferrata tour at the Oberburg. Ascent/climbing approx. 15-20min hrs.
Course ends around 12.30pm.

Contents:
- Selection of suitable via ferrata routes
- Information on the necessary equipment, correct handling and safety
- Teaching and practising different climbing techniques
- Learned techniques used on via ferrata/Uberburg A/B short section C
- Return to the tourist information office

Your own equipment should include (depending on the weather):
-Rain jacket
-touring trousers
-gloves
-small pharmacy
-lip and sun protection
-good sunglasses
-Touring rucksack approx. 25 litres
-Drinking bottle
-Provisions, e.g. bars, dried fruit
-Sturdy ankle-high shoes
-Optional camera/mobile phone
