The guided tour of the Fortuna mine by knowledgeable mine guides lasts just under an hour and shows the technology and work processes in the former iron ore mine. After a short walk through the gallery, the pit cage takes up to 21 people at a time through the machine shaft to the 150-metre level. The original mine train takes visitors further into the former mining rooms of the so-called North Camp. Here, hammer drills cut into the red-coloured rock and electric or compressed air-driven loading machines start moving noisily. We will demonstrate several authentic machines live!

At this depth there is a constant 13° Celsius, high humidity, freedom from dust and complete isolation from everyday noise - this alone is a relaxing experience! And then hear under what noise the miners used to work.

PS: As a charitable, non-profit association, we are the sponsors of the Fortuna mine, a real mine for visitor use. Compared to other museum facilities, we have very high operating costs (4 employees are needed for 1 visitor, and in addition, the rope tour under mine supervision requires a lot of technical and testing effort) and are only supported by the public purse with a fixed amount, which does not cover the expenses by far. We live off proceeds from tickets, the museum shop and donations and manage to stay in the black with a lot of voluntary work. Now we hope to preserve the mine as a living monument of industrial culture and mining history and look forward to your future visit.
